Over the days we shal visit Cococohca for the Giant Otter colony, and see birds such as Hoatzin, Muscovy Duck, Sungrebe, Sunbittern, Anhinga, Agami Heron, Blue and Yellow Macaw and more. There is a small Parrot lick nearby which gives Chestnut-fronted Macaw, Blue-headed Parrot, Dusky-headed Parakeet, occational Red-and-Green Macaw and Orange-cheeked Parrot.
The new impressive steel tower is one of the best in South America, letting you study birds from above the treetops if you wish. The tower is so high, there is even cellphone reception here.
In short, it is an amazing place and a good alternative to birding in Manu, especially in the rain season, when access to Manu is complicated or for smaller groups for which the costs of Manu can be prohibitive.
For birdwatchers we offer programs of 4-7 days.
For an easy cloud forest connection see our Birdwatching Cuzco to Puerto Maldonado and the birding Puerto Maldonado to Cusco/Puno trip.
Also consider to make a few additional days in Puerto Maldonado for additional species by making our Puerto Maldonado birding program. There are plenty of additional birds to see.
