Outstanding place in the Peruvian rainforest with a 7m Anaconda staked out and recent sightings of Tapir and Jaguar on the trails. Rio Los Amigos Research Station is a vey modern set-up in the rain forest with good trails, electric light and even internet and it has the specialities of SE Peru even such rare species as Long-crested Pygmy-Tyrant, Black-faced Cotinga, Rufous-fronted Ant-thrush and Peruvian Recurvebill. There are 10 species of monkeys regularly seen including Emperor Tamarin and Monk Saki Monkey. Fixed price from 1 pax!!!! The rooms have private bath, but not yet hot water. It is possible to upgrade to a private cabin for 30 US$ more per person/per night. You have to travel to Amigos on a Friday to make use of the station's boat. A recent group spent 12 days and were still adding 10 species to their total list on the last day. Therefore, we offer two versions - 7 days or 14 days. The 14 day trip invites to make a big day on day 13, totals around 300 species is not impossible. It is possible to arrange longer or shorter stays, as well with other departure days. Price will depend then on group size, but we will have to arrange private boat service which will raise the cost.
Finally, this is also a great place for independent birders. The observations of all recent groups can be found in the Lodge Log book started by Kolibri Expeditions and meant to be a tool both to researchers and visiting birders. In spite that the cost for individual birders is somewhat higher than for example Explorer's Inn or Tambopata Research Center, the combination of extremely varied habitat next to the lodge and the updated log-book (which strangely enough does not exist in other lodges) makes Amigos the first choice for any independent birder to SE Peru.

BIG DAY ATTEMPT PROGRAM. GO FOR 300!
The 14 day program just stays another full week at the station and the excellent trails. On the last day we shall make a serious big-day attempt. Since we are constantly mapping where the territories are of the different species in the mix of habitats near the station, it would not surprise us that after several tries we could come in range of Ted Parker's seemingly unbeatable record of 331 species.
