Snowstorm Best time to visit Peru?

Wouldn't you be better off in Peru?

When is the best time to visit Peru?

This is a question I always get. I tell people they will always see more birds in Peru than at home...so any time of year is better than being "home". In spite of this most trips are planned in the relatively dry season of the SE between June and September. Why are people so afraid of rain. Is there any time of year that people do not visit Costa Rica? Why is it that Ecuador get hoards of people in every season? Isn't it time to break the spell and visit Peru all year around. Especially important since you may chose a different area and not necessarily go to SE in the wettest months.
All of those who have visted Peru please let us know your experiences of different areas and different months in the comment section below. I am sure we shall see that Peru is always worth a visit and again another visit.

My opinion is completely matching with yours, Gunnar. No matter what time of the year we are talking about, there are countries where you can go anytime of the year. Certainly there are better periods and if you know you have only one chance to visit any of those countries then it is better to concentrate on the most productive periods.

In case there should be other chances to visit South America then anytime is killer. It all depends if you just wanna enjoy tropical birding or you are list ticker. :)

I have been to Central and South America in the rainy season when it only rained for a few hours (or not at all) in the afternoon and I have been to Central and South American in the "dry" season when it rained every day. As birders we are out there in all season at home, so what difference would it make when we travel? For me it doesn't. The challenge is more of be able to get out of the driveway in all that snow.
