Arica (Chile) - Jujuy (NW Argentina) Connection



 INTRODUCTION:


 THE TOUR:

After visiting Lauca National park on the Arica-Lauca or the Bolivia 3 endemics program with La Paz-Lauca-Arica overland in the end, those that want to continue to NW Argentina can make this overland trip getting some interesting birds on the way such as Tamarugo Conebill, Red-backed Sierra-Finch, Puna Rhea and Horned Coot. The latter is very difficult nowadays at its classic site at Laguna Horcones on the main NW Argentina route.

Day 1. Drive Arica-San Pedro de Atacama picking up Tamarugo Conebill on the way.
Day 2. Tatio geysers and Red-backed Sierra-Finch.
Day 3. Drive to Paso de Sico, via Miscanti for Horned Coot. There is  avery comfortable hotel where we will stay at 4000 meters near the boarder.
Day 4. Drive to Jujuy with selected stops on the way.
